CAPE TOWN THIS WINTER
CAPE TOWN THIS WINTER
South Africa, Cape Town, 6 May 2021; THERE are so many reasons to visit the Onyx Hotel in Cape Town this winter, from spa journeys and cocktail celebrations to seasonal promotional rates and phenomenal packages. It’s the perfect time to book that city staycation escape.
Conveniently located on Cape Town’s Foreshore with easy access to the city’s dynamic urban lifestyle culture, The Onyx is a harmonious blend of hotel and residential accommodation and commands the attention of passers-by with its bold architectural features. Onyx is similar in appearance to black sapphire -; a rare, striking gemstone, which perfectly mirrors the property’s essence. In celebration of past and present – with The Onyx set right on Heerengracht Street, Cape Town’s oldest thoroughfare -, guests can look forward to a chic city experience, on par with apartment offerings around the globe but infused with authentic South African vibrancy and authenticity.
In celebration of the upcoming World Cocktail Day on 13 May, as well as the beginning of the winter season, YU Restaurant & Bar – in collaboration with the South African Brandy Foundation and Simonsig Wine Estate – is offering two bespoke cocktails available at the 4th floor bar. Simonsig is celebrating 50 years of producing Méthode Cap Classique and the two dreamy cocktails feature the recently rebranded – Kaapse Vonkel Satin Nectar and the Satin Nectar Rosé.
YU Bar’s new cocktails are the “Africa Rising Cocktail Ibhilikosi” comprising Oude Molen VSOP brandy, Kaapse Vonkel Satin Nectar, apricot sorbet and apricot bitters, served in a beautiful flute garnished with orange – a tantalising autumnal affair.
The “Africa Rising City of Gold” cocktail comprises a heady mix of Klipdrift Premium brandy, Kaapse Vonkel Satin Nectar Rose, Vanilla Syrup, candyfloss, citrus and a sexy molten gold surface. So insta-ready!
The restaurant, YU, offers an exotic menu of Asian-style tapas along with a sultry cocktail bar on the 4th floor that enjoys fabulous cityscape views. It all makes for an ideal date night or an evening out with friends.
And for those looking for some serious pampering, the Sanctuary Spa at The Onyx always has incredible packages on offer such as this month’s “Magical Moments package” that includes a 90-minute side-by-side full-body hot-stone massage with a hot-oil foot and scalp massage at just R1 590 per couple. Bubbly is included, making this the ultimate romantic treatment of choice.
Last, but not least, the “Winter Warmer” package is ideal for those looking for a tension-releasing, rejuvenating session including a 20-minute exfoliation steam treatment, a 30-minute hot-stone back, neck and shoulder massage, a 10-minute hot-stone foot massage and a 10-minute scalp massage for just R490 per person. Guests of the Sanctuary Spa can then spend the rest of the day relaxing in the magnificent indoor-outdoor heated pool area.
We know it’s hard to leave, so why not stay the night and experience all of the Onyx’s offerings! For the month of May, a special discounted rate is being offered for a one-night stay, including breakfast and a spa treatment, from R1 650. Other winter packages and promotions will be released during the remainder of the season.
For out-of-towners wanting to explore more of the wine and brandy options in the winelands, the Onyx’s concierge team in association with Ilios Tours, is ready to create individualised day-trip itineraries. These can include fascinating visits to Van Ryn’s Distillery in Stellenbosch, KWV’s House of Fire in Paarl and the Oude Molen Distillery in the Elgin Valley, plus a wine tasting and lunch at the many heritage wine estates that the Cape has to offer, including Simonsig.
