CHEFS WAREHOUSE AND BEAU CONSTANTIA INTRODUCE NEW
WINE-FOCUSSED PRIVATE LUNCHES

South Africa, Cape Town, 11 December 2024; The offering is an opportunity to taste – in an intimate setting — the exceptional creativity and craftmanship emanating from the kitchen and the cellar, at this beautiful terraced Constantia wine country estate.

The global flavour-packed menu of Chef Ivor Jones of Chefs Warehouse Beau Constantia and the wines lovingly made from this family-owned farm – by winemaker Megan van der Merwe —  are now on offer as a curated private lunch, to be enjoyed in Bronn’s Box, a private dining room idyllically set above the vineyards of boutique winery Beau Constantia.

Ivor Jones has been the chef/co-owner of the highly lauded Chefs Warehouse Beau Constantia since its opening in 2016. Consistently regarded by industry peers as their ultimate favourite food destination, Chefs Warehouse Beau Constantia has also steadily garnered a cache of awards, including in 2024: 3 Plates from the JHP Gourmet Guide 2025, 3 Star Eat Out Restaurant 2023 and La Liste Hidden Gem Award 2024. Jones’s food is innovative and bold; an exciting trip inspired by nostalgia and travel, with special emphasis on the flavours of Southeast Asia.

Beau Constantia winemaker Megan van der Merwe may be Constantia’s youngest winemaker, but she’s been making waves in the valley since she began her career in 2015. In 2019, she joined Beau Constantia, jumping at the prospect of taking the reins at this farm owned by the Du Preez family, and since then her viticulturally focussed approach has yielded elegant wines of serious structure and personality, with a strong sense of place.

The Offering

The Chef’s Set Menu prepared by Chefs Warehouse – full of fresh flavours and beautiful presentations — will kick off with Beau’s signature bread course. Four additional courses and wines will follow, with an optional dessert menu available on request. This elevated gourmet experience served by a dedicated team from restaurant and wine farm is available to parties of six to twelve people.

Guests will be guided through the menu and the wines, some of which will come from Beau Constantia’s covetable vinoteque and held back over the years. “The wines will be a mix of our current offering with a few surprises not usually available to the public,” elaborates van der Merwe. “These special wines really showcase the beauty of what can happen when you have the patience to let wine evolve over time, and what kind of long game we are in.”

Bronn’s Box

Bronn’s Box is a private room adjacent to the Beau Constantia Tasting Room, and above Chefs Warehouse Beau Constantia. It is named after unsung Constantia Valley hero Japie Bronn, who was brought out of retirement to plant the first vineyards on the steep slopes of the farm in 2003. Over the course of his career, Bronn established many vineyards in the Constantia Valley, but yet received little recognition for his life’s work. In a nod to his preference for anonymity, Beau Constantia also named its Pas de Nom range of wines after Bronn – Pas de Nom means ‘without name’ in French.

Beau Constantia Wines

Beau Constantia’s philosophy of winemaking is minimum intervention and with only 12 hectares of vines tenaciously clinging to the near vertiginous mountainside, its production is limited to what one of the most extreme viticultural slopes in the Western Cape can deliver. Its commitment to quality is evident in its two ranges of wines: the Family wines, which are the estate’s flagship range, and are named after the members of the Du Preez family; and the Pas de Nom range.

Wines will be available for sale to take home or to be couriered, after the lunch.
