PALM HOUSE BOUTIQUE HOTEL & SPA LAUNCHES
AFTERNOON TEA BELOW THE SLOPES OF TABLE MOUNTAIN

South Africa, Cape Town, 17 October 2024; Under the shade of monumental palm trees set within a garden sanctuary, the Palm House Boutique Hotel & Spa has launched an enchanting Afternoon Tea experience by executive chef Gregory Henderson.

This time-honoured tradition offers a delightful opportunity to celebrate special occasions or spend time with friends and family. Guests may enjoy the afternoon under the shade of age-old palm trees on the charming Palm Terrace, with views of the beautiful gardens, or opt for the conservatory-style restaurant when the weather is cooler. The offering includes a selection of housemade savoury and sweet dainties, accompanied by a choice of speciality coffees, teas, fresh juices or a glass of sparkling wine.

A Celebration of Tradition

Afternoon tea, a tradition dating back to 19th-century England, was introduced by Anna, the Duchess of Bedford, as a way to bridge the gap between lunch and dinner. At Palm House, we honour this custom with a beautifully arranged three-tiered étagère, featuring an array of pastries, finger sandwiches, and freshly baked scones served with clotted cream and preserves.

An Elegant Retreat

Located in the tree-lined suburb of Upper Wynberg, Palm House Boutique Hotel & Spa blends historical charm with modern comfort. New proprietors of the historic property Max Jong and Shelagh Wood have sensitively transformed to create a welcoming atmosphere.

Extend your visit by booking a beauty or wellness treatment at the hotel’s boutique Açaí Spa and Wellness Oasis. The spa offers a serene environment, complete with three treatments rooms and a unique Banya Sauna.

Executive chef Gregory Henderson’s menu highlights Cape Town’s culinary heritage, using locally sourced ingredients to celebrate the region’s vibrant flavours.

Located close to the forested slopes of Table Mountain, and just minutes from the venerable vineyards of Constantia, Palm House has for decades been an icon of this historic suburb; a stately home that has recently enjoyed a transformation into a boutique hotel brimming with character and charm.

Afternoon Tea at the Palm Terrace is priced at R395 per person and includes a speciality coffee, tea, fresh juice or a glass of cap classique. Bookings must kindly be made 24-hours in advance. Reserve your table via www.palmhouse.co.za, email explore@palmhouse.co.za or whatsapp 076 487 2016.
