SALON TO HOST EXCLUSIVE DINNER CELEBRATING 20 YEARS OF KEN FORRESTER’S FMC WINES

Cape Town, South Africa – 11 October 2024 – Attention, wine aficionados, mark your calendars for an unforgettable evening on 1 November 2024 at SALON restaurant, recently crowned Africa’s Best New Restaurant at the 2024 World Culinary Awards. This special event celebrates an exclusive collaboration with renowned winemaker Ken Forrester, marking over two decades of the iconic, almost legendary FMC, truly a delicious, worldwide benchmark for wine lovers.

This isn’t merely a dinner; it’s a once-in-a-lifetime experience featuring extremely rare older vintages poured from magnum – these wines are all from the library cellar, under perfect storage conditions and no longer available on the market.  Guests will be treated to an exquisite menu showcasing luxurious dishes such as Lobster Taco, Bouillabaisse Marseillaise, and Black Truffle Risotto, all thoughtfully created by restaurateur and chef Luke Dale Roberts alongside Executive Chef Carla Schulze. Each dish will be perfectly paired with special vintages of Magnum FMC, promising an evening of culinary excellence and wine that is truly a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.

A Legacy of Winemaking Excellence

Ken Forrester’s illustrious journey began in 1993 when he and his wife, Teresa, acquired an historic vineyard in Stellenbosch, originally planted to vines in 1689. Situated under the majestic Helderberg mountain, they have devoted themselves to creating benchmark wines, with Chenin Blanc emerging as the standout cultivar of this exceptional terroir and as a result driving the wave of International Chenin success for the industry.

In 2000, Ken crafted the first FMC in collaboration with his friend and mentor, Martin Meinert. This wine quickly garnered acclaim, fetching record prices at auction and becoming a favourite at prestigious events, including Nelson Mandela’s 85th birthday celebration. The FMC is renowned worldwide for its rich, full-bodied profile, showcasing flavours of fresh and baked apples, hints of caramel and honey, and a vibrant citrus finish. Celebrated for both its immediate appeal and legendary aging potential, it epitomises Forrester’s winemaking excellence.
