SALON by Luke Dale Roberts Wins Africa’s
Best New Restaurant at the World Culinary Awards

South Africa, Cape Town – 3 October 2024 – SALON, the latest signature restaurant by Luke Dale Roberts located in Cape Town, has received the prestigious title of Africa’s Best New Restaurant at the 2024 World Culinary Awards. The 5th annual awards ceremony took place on the 2nd of October 2024, at Summersalt, Jumeirah Al Naseem, Dubai,

Since opening in April 2023, SALON has made its mark on the city’s fine-dining scene with an inventive multi-course menu that takes inspiration from Luke’s global culinary career. Originally inspired by Luke’s travels over the past twenty years, the menu has now evolved to emphasise seasonality, incorporating global influences drawn from the flavours and ingredients that inspire Luke in collaboration with Carla Schulze – SALON’s Executive Chef, all while maintaining a spirit of constant innovation.

“Receiving this recognition is a testament to our passionate team and our commitment to pushing culinary boundaries,” said Luke Dale Roberts. “Carla and I are incredibly proud of what we’ve achieved in such a short time.”

Carla, who collaborates closely with Luke adds, “Winning this international award validates our efforts and inspires us to keep pushing forward.”

The SALON Experience

SALON’s signature global tasting menu showcases a variety of culinary influences from Luke Dale Roberts’ roots in England, formative years in Asia, and experiences throughout Europe and Latin America. Standout dishes include the South African ‘Padkos,’ a playful interpretation of traditional snacks, and an evolving bread course that highlights seasonal ingredients.

The recent appointment of one-to-watch sommelier Tadiswa Chikwanha further enhances SALON’s beverage offering. Tadiswa’s expertise and vision refines the wine and cocktail pairings, creating a cohesive and unforgettable dining experience.

The global tasting menu is priced at R1690 per person and available for dinner service. This prix fixe menu, available all year round for lunch only,  offers a more focused experience than the signature 11-course global tasting menu – which remains available for all diners – with six courses showcasing the unique combination of culinary artistry and globe-trotting fare and priced at R795 per person.

These menus are also available with an optional  beverage pairing menu with dishes matched to one of the small-batch wines or choose signature cocktails from SALON’s carefully considered drinks.

SALON is open for dinner from Tuesdays through to Saturdays, and for lunch from Thursdays through to Saturdays.  The Old Biscuit Mill, 375 Albert Road, Woodstock, Cape Town. For bookings and more information visit: www.salonct.co.za or call 087 093 5890 during normal business hours.
